A splint (or occlusal orthotic) is a precisely fitted appliance worn over the teeth that guides the jaw into a more relaxed, decompressed position. By removing pressure from the temporomandibular joint and reducing clenching-related muscle activity, splints are often the first step in treating TMJ pain, clicking and headaches — and can also protect teeth from grinding.الجبيرة (أو التقويم الإطباقي) جهاز مُلائم بدقة يُرتدى فوق الأسنان ويوجّه الفك نحو وضعية أكثر استرخاءً وانفراجاً. من خلال إزالة الضغط عن مفصل الفك الصدغي وتقليل نشاط العضلات المرتبط بالإطباق، تُعد الجبائر غالباً الخطوة الأولى في علاج ألم الفك الصدغي والنقر والصداع — ويمكنها أيضاً حماية الأسنان من الطحن.

A splint differs from a generic over-the-counter or dentist-issued night guard in that it is precisely fabricated from your own scans to guide the jaw into a specific, decompressed position — not simply to add a layer of protective plastic between the teeth.
